Top 9 R&B Albums of 2009

So I really like R&B so I decided to list my top 9 R&B albums of 2009. I know most of you will disagree with me but I don't really care. This is mostly based on the albums that were on heavy rotation on my iPod. Now I haven't listened to the new albums from Mary J. Blige nor Alicia Keys so don't send me any hate mail. Also, I really didn't count Rihanna as an "R&B" album and Beyonce's album came out in 2008. Also Keri Hilson and Ciara have been omitted because I personally don't care for either of them. So here's what I got:

Sean Paul "Evening Ride"

So last week I got my hands on Sean Paul's new album "Imperial Blaze." It's been on heavy rotation on my iPod, although I have to admit that out of all Sean Paul's albums, it's my least favorite. All the tracks are so-so to me and if you're expecting a "Get Busy" track, you'll be more than disappointed. But it's a decent album and if you're a Sean Paul fan it's worth the download. I think I'll put a couple of tracks up throughout the week....starting with this song "Evening Ride."

Beyoncé "Poison"

Listen to this unreleased track from Beyonce called "Poison." Not sure when this was made, but I admit it's growing on me. (And no, it's not a re-make of BelBivDevoe's "Poison," lol).

Trey Songz "One Love"

So I'm liking this song by Trey Songz and I'm not even a Trey fan...

This Summer Is Terrible! (Music Wise)

So I love music and I'm constantly downloading new tracks. So far 2009 has not been a good year as far as music and my iPod was constantly playing the same tracks over and over again. I always look forward to the summer because normally that's the time when most artists put out the best music. However, this summer has been terrible! There hasn't been many full albums that I have downloaded and I only listen to a few new tracks here and there.

On top of that, Mariah Carey's album has been pushed back from August 25 to September 15! And of course, Amerie's album has been pushed back as well. Fabolous' album "Losso's Way" hits stores today and hopefully that will revive the summer! I still can't wait for LeToya's album (it's been a long time coming and I'm so excited). I need some hot new music asap!

The-Dream "Can't Wait to Hate You"

So here is a demo track that The-Dream did called "Can't Wait To Hate You." It was supposedly for Mariah, but her second single entitled "H.A.T.E.U." is definitely not the same song from what I've heard. Nonetheless, this song has kinda grown on me. Partly because it encapsulates what I think everyone feels when they go through a painful breakup. You want to hate that person, but for some reason you still love them! I think we can all relate to this song. However, take some advice from me: the real way you move on from someone isn't hate; it's indifference. Remember that.

LeToya "Regret"

I can't wait until this new LeToya Luckett album comes out! I love her. Take a listen to this song called "Regret" featuring Ludacris. I'm definitely feeling this. Real laid back track.

Sean Paul "Double Safety Lately"

Listen to this new track from Sean Paul called "Double Safety Lately" (I think that's the title) off his new "Imperial Blaze" album. I'm a huge Sean Paul fan so I'm anxiously awaiting this release. Although I like this mid-tempo song, because "So Fine" hasn't been doing so well he needs to come with a hard second single if he wants this album to do well.

Jeremih "That Body"

Jeremih's new album is out today and I've heard that it's for sale on Amazon for $2.99 today only! Definitely go get get it! Listen to "That Body" below.

Jeremih "Jumpin"

Take a listen to one of the songs that will be on Jeremih's new self-titled album that will be in stores June 30th. I took a listen to the full album already and I like it. The lyrics lack substance but he's definitely talented and I have a feeling a lot of people will like his album. This track is called "Jumpin" and I'm feelin it. The hot male R&B singer slot has been empty lately. Hopefully Jeremih will fill it.

Michael We'll Miss You

I have to be honest. I'm so in shock I have nothing to say. Michael you will be sorely missed, but your music and your legacy will live on forever.Listen to one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs "Human Nature."

Check out this new buzz single from one of my favorite singers JoJo. I love this girl! She has such a beautiful voice for such a young girl! Her new album has been completed and it needs to come out ASAP. If Diddy had any sense he would drop Cassie and try to get JoJo out of her deal with Blackground....

Electrik Red "Friend Lover"

So "Friend Lover" will be the third single from the Electrik Red album. They've already done a video for the song. I tried to put it on here but they disabled the embed code from youtube. Peep it if you're interested. If you haven't gotten the Electrik Red album you need to go get it. It's on heavy rotation in my house! A couple of people have told me to listen to the other girl group Rich Girl. I'll listen to them and get back to you!

Mariah Announces New Single

Mariah Carey announced via her twitter page that her first single off her latest album will be released Tuesday and is a The-Dream produced track called "Obsessed." She announced awhile ago that her new album will be called "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel." Yeah ummm....not feeling that album name too much. Remember "E=MC2" was originally going to be titled "I'm That Chick"? Yeah I hope someone makes a change on this album title as well. I have high expectations for this new album even though the last one was not up to standards for me. Hopefully "Obsessed" will hit the mark. I'll post it when I get it.

Electrik Red "Go Shawty"

Here's another track from the Electrik Red album "How to Be a Lady Vol. 1" called "Go Shawty. I really like these girls. Although their vocal ability isn't that strong, they have some smooth tracks and are great dancers. Peep their YouTube videos when you ever get bored.

Electrik Red "On Point"

So for the next week expect me to do several posts on the group Electrik Red who will be dropping their first album this Tuesday. I absolutely LOVE this album and you definitely have to pick it up. They are honestly the next Vanity 6 and one of the girls (Binkie) sounds like my fave singer Kelis. Listen to the song "On Point" below. It's definitely giving off that Kelis vibe. The main obstacles for these girls are lack of promotion and a limited selection of radio friendly singles. But these girls are hot. Don't sleep on them....

Amerie "Why R U"

Listen to Amerie's new single "Why R U"....I kinda like it! I wish she would go for a different sound though. Seems likes we've heard this type of material from her before.
