No More Vibe Magazine

It's a wrap for Vibe magazine. The urban music magazine has been in circulation since 1993, but due to the recession it's last issue will hit newstands soon. The hot mess pictured above is none other than Christina Milian topless with The-Dream covering up her goods with his hands. Yeah, basically some real tacky type ish. I'm so tired of these two. It would have been nice to have Michael up there instead.

LeToya's New Album Cover

Check out LeToya Luckett's new album cover. Very pretty. But doesn't it look familiar?
Ummm yeah. Beyoncé did a series of photos with the same look. LeToya really needs to stay away from anything Beyonce-esque/Sasha Fierce because she's just inviting unwanted comparisons. I can't wait for new album though!

Mariah as Eminem?

LOL! Look at this photo of Mariah Carey as Eminem on the set of her new video for "Obsessed." WOW. She looks just like a guy and I'm sure this is supposed to be an Eminem. I hope it's a great video and I'll post it as soon as it's completed.

BET Awards

I was extremely disappointed with the BET Awards the other night. No dance tribute to Michael, the show was mostly just an R&B tribute show, they seemed unprepared, and Jamie Foxx and some of the presenters and performers were a hot mess most of the time. Ciara couldn't sing (she can't hold a note for nothin!), Beyonce came out in a strange wedding dress singing "Ave Maria" (why didn't she sing Michael's "Can't Help It" like she did the previous night at one of her shows?), I felt like we were in another year (Tevin Campbell, New Edition, Johnny Gill, Keith Sweat?).......I was totally confused! BET really should have let Chris Brown perform. This "tribute" for me was kind of embarrassing. BET really needs to get it together!
AND......the "Baby Boy" skit was HILARIOUS! Until Ving Rames came out.......he really didn't seem like he had it together (mentally). Did you see Keyshia Cole's face when he started cursing and actin crazy? And what don't black people understand about the word "live"? You can't get on there cursing and acting ignorant and what not! What was wrong with everyone? Like we ain't go no sense? Like many other people, I have a major problem with BET being representative of black people general. We can do so much better than the things that they air.

Also: My personal highlight of the evening was the "Skank Robbers: Sheneneh Jenkins and Wanda Reid" skit with Martin Lawrence and Jamie Foxx. I was going to post it here but Viacom has pulled the clips off YouTube. If that was a real movie I'd soooo go see it! LOL.

BET Awards Tonight

BET Awards will be tonight and I have to admit that this is the first time EVER that I'm in anxious anticipation of tuning in. Of course I want to see the Michael Jackson tribute and how well BET put it together in such a short period of time. I know Beyonce will be doing some sort of performance and I know she'll probably incorporate Michael somehow. Rumors are that Chris Brown will be performing! This would be a really good opportunity for him to make his comeback. He gave a great Michael performance on the same awards show a few years back. We'll have to see if he actually performs....Also remember to stay tuned in after the show to catch the sneak peak of Tiny and Toya's reality show!

Jeremih "Jumpin"

Take a listen to one of the songs that will be on Jeremih's new self-titled album that will be in stores June 30th. I took a listen to the full album already and I like it. The lyrics lack substance but he's definitely talented and I have a feeling a lot of people will like his album. This track is called "Jumpin" and I'm feelin it. The hot male R&B singer slot has been empty lately. Hopefully Jeremih will fill it.

So after the whole Chris Brown mess, Rihanna was no longer a Covergirl. Now that everything has somewhat blown over, she's back. Peep her mascara ad. She looks great.

Amerie in Golf Magazine

Amerie is such a pretty girl! Here she is in Golf Magazine (why I have no idea) in a super cute golfing outfit. Her album In Love and War is scheduled to be released September 8th now. "Why R U" hasn't been doing great and I think the previous release date was the same as Mariah's. Good thing they pushed it back. My much anticipated albums of the summer? Amerie, LeToya, Mariah, and Lil' Kim in the fall.

Kim Kardashian Making An Album?

Word is that Kim Kardashian is in the studio putting together a R&B album. I've never heard her sing......have you? This should be interesting. She has been hanging around Ciara a lot, but I just thought that was because they have the same publicist. Ciara was promoting her new album and Kim is always trying to just stay relevant. I actually like Kim K a lot. Doesn't she look almost like Jennifer Lopez in this pic?

Video: Ashanti "Home"

Here's Ashanti singing "Home" from the musical production of The Wiz which she performed on Regis and Kelly. With Michael's passing, this has new meaning. A lot of people say she can't sing, but I always thought she had a great voice. This clip definitely proves it. Her vocal performance was superb.

My Thoughts

I must admit that I have been struggling all morning to put my thoughts into words to express my sadness over the death of Michael Jackson. There's no way I can sit here and convey the impact of his talent. I have yet to turn on the tv, listen to my always-present Michael Jackson music playlist, or go to the basement and dig up the Michael Jackson doll I played with as a kid. I just can't. Michael's death is particularly difficult for me because my grandmother was a long-time fan and she passed away 8 weeks ago. Upon hearing of his death, I immediately picked up the phone to call her, not thinking that she is no longer here as well. I'm still going to need some time to get it together and process that Michael Jackson is no longer with us. He was a great man and we will all be mourning globally--a testament to the unifying power and world-wide resonance of his music. Michael Jackson you will be missed.

Of course Elizabeth Taylor is extremely upset. Her rep said that she would issue a statement later.

New Pastry Collection

Vanessa and Angela Simmons just launched their new Pastry collection at Macy's. Honestly, I'm not a fan of them. I like that they are two young women trying to be "entrepreneurs" but when you have a famous and wealthy father, uncle, and ex-auntie who can show you the ropes of having a successful business and fashion enterprise....you really ain't doin nothin. Vanessa looks great. Nice and classy. Angela needs to tone it down for me. The heels and bra showing is not a good look especially when your demographic is tweens and teenagers. She looks a mess to me. Or perhaps I'm in a bad mood with all this Michael stuff :(

Golden Brooks is Pregnant!

Golden Brooks who played Maya on the tv show "Girlfriends" is reportedly pregnant by her boyfriend DB Woodside (yeah I had to google him myself...he's an actor and used to be on the show "24"). They've been dating a year. Congratulations I guess!

Random: Did you know that Golden went to UC Berkeley and got a master's degree from Sarah Lawrence College? Yeah. Surprised me too.

Tell-All Books on the Way?

I'm not much into "tell-all books." They always seem to disappoint. Superhead, Nas' ex, and Faith Evans have all written tell-alls and to be honest I haven't read more than a few pages. But ex-Destiny Child's member LaTavia (pictured below with LeToya and Eve) is rumored to be coming out with a book. I would be interested in reading that just because I know she will have some dirt to dish on Matthew Knowles and the whole DC controversy. However, I think this might be a false rumor just because it's been almost 10 years since the group broke up. Why spill everything now? Also, LeToya and LaTavia won a big settlement after they sued Matthew Knowles. It wouldn't surprise me if they agreed not to ever discuss what really happened.
Also rumored to be coming out with a book is Amil from Roc-a-fella Records. I actually really liked her (also weren't there two other girls as well?) and she kinda disappeared. I'd like to know what was really going on between her and Jay-Z and what's her insight on the Jay-Z and Dame Dash thing. I know a few years back she was supposed to be starting her career again and was trying to put out a mixtape but I don't know what ever became of that.

Also, the first mom from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is also going to write a tell-all book about why Will Smith got her removed from the show. That should be interesting as well.

Peep these pics from E Moda magazine featuring Amber Rose. I admit she looks really good and she supposedly now has a contract with Ford Models. Amber has a very unique look and there's no denying her beauty....However to my dismay I've found out that Amber Rose and MY MAN Kanye are still together! (If you don't know how I feel about Kanye's relationship with Amber look at my previous posts on her). I'm going to back off and give it a little more time before I go back to my usual ways of bashing Miss Amber. I admit that deep down inside I love this girl! But she needs to stay the hell away from my man....

Will You Watch?

So June 30th marks the premiere of The Tiny and Toya Show. Tiny is of course T.I.'s baby momma/rumored wife and Toya is Antonia (Toya) Johnson-Carter better known as Lil'Wayne ex-wife. The show is supposedly going to chronicle the lives of "two dynamic, young women immersed in the craziness of the Hip Hop world, but striving to find inner strength, peace and purpose.” LOL!!! Alrighty then.....I'm not going to make a comment.

Both ladies looked really nice in the promo commercials I've seen so far. I missed the preview special so I guess I'll have to wait for the sneak peek after the BET Awards on the 28th. To be honest....what is the show going to be about besides shopping and raising kids? I know Tiny has her nail salon so perhaps that will be a part of the show, but other than that I don't see what's going to take up a whole season of episodes. Well I'll tune in and attempt to watch it.

Look at these oversized round sunglasses from RALPH for $89. The oversized and round sunglasses aren't a fave of mine since I have a small face but I think these are kinda cute. It comes in plum/peach fade (above), orange fade, and black.

The End of Jon and Kate

So I think the official word is that Jon and Kate are getting a divorce. So sad. I hope it isn't true but from what I've seen so far this season there is no sign of reconciliation. I mean they've been on separate couches during every episode! Also the show seems totally fake now. It's time to end their marriage and the show it seems.
